Pointing the way: the conference was a great opportunity for local people to have their say
Our second annual tenants and residents conference on Thursday 6 November 2008 was a great success.
Organised by our tenants and residents committee (a group of tenants reps that reports to our main decision-making board) the event at Parkway Green House in Northenden gave local people the chance to hear what we've done, and what we're planning.
It was a great opportunity for tenants and residents to have their say too.
There were high-profile speakers, clear displays, and stalls where our building company partners showed how they're improving local homes.
Manchester's Lord Mayor, Councillor Mavis Smitheman, presented awards to winners of our garden competition, and of our new Good Neighbour scheme which encourages people to acknowledge and reward those who go out of their way to help others.
The day was also a celebration of another milestone in our massive home improvement programme. We've now completed 6000 improvements and are on target to meet the promises we made to local people when we launched two years ago.
"We really enjoyed the different speakers and stalls", said chair of the tenants and residents committee, Steve Thompson. "A big thankyou to everyone involved. We're already looking forward to next year!"
