Harriet's got talent!

Winner Harriet Wood

Parkway Green tenant Harriet Wood won the prestigious Wythenshawe's Got Talent competition at the glittering final on Friday 17 October. The night at the Forum was a huge success as Wythenshawe really did itself proud.

Harriet, a singer from Northern Moor, impressed the judges and the audience with a stunning performance of Whitney Houston's 'Run to You' to claim victory by just one point.

"I'm over the moon to have won - it means the world to me!" said a delighted Harriet. "Hopefully I can use this as a springboard to greater things."

The winners

Hundreds of acts came to the original auditions. An online video voting stage narrowed the contest down to five acts in each of the three categories.

The winners in each category on the night were:

  • Adults: Harriet Wood, wins £250 plus £250 as the overall winner
  • 12 to 17s: Toe Tappers, win £250
  • Under 11s: MC Dance Works, win £250

Massive success

"The event was a massive success," said joint-organiser Pat Higson. "Not just because of the talented individuals who took part, but from all the people of Wythenshawe who really got behind the competition. A big thankyou to everyone involved. The event will definitely be back bigger and better next year."
