Hot stuff: we're one of the country's top landlords for gas safety checks.
Parkway Green tenants are safer in their homes after we met our targets for checking and maintaining gas equipment.
Landlords must visit all their properties once a year to make sure gas equipment is working properly and is not a danger to residents. Around 30 people die every year in Britain from poisoning or fire caused by faulty equipment; so it's vital that we get round to every home.
Many housing organisations fail to meet this tough target. But we're pleased to tell you that, after getting to all our homes within the year, we have succeeded. We're now one of the country's top performing landlords for gas safety checks.
We're checking equipment in homes in Newall Green, and will be coming to Northenden tenants in November 2008. Checks are done by our identity-card-carrying qualified gas servicing engineers from Sure Maintenance. They're quick, clean and efficient - and they're happy to wait outside while you check their identity before letting them in.
Despite recent publicity, a few tenants still refuse to let us in to do this vital work. We can take legal action to get in, and ultimately people who don't co-operate can lose their home. We have evicted seven tenants for this reason since April 2008.
We can charge a tenant for the legal costs of getting into their home too. This year 13 tenants have picked up bills ranging from £570 to £755.
