They may not be quite in the Premiership big league (Division 2 of the Wythenshawe and District Sunday league actually), but Yew Tree Athletic are looking forward to a brighter future after netting a great sponsorship deal with Parkway Green Housing Trust.
The team had been struggling to keep going, but we've kitted them out with a brand new strip to help them get back to winning ways. The yellow shirts, complete with Parkway Green logo, make the lads look just like Brazil.
But don't let the samba-style fool you, this is very much a local team. "Most of the players live in the Northern Moor, Baguley and Northenden areas," says skipper Gavin Evans, "so it's great our sponsor is a community-based organisation like Parkway Green".
It's a positive example of Parkway Green being about much more than bricks-and-mortar improvements to homes and estates. We want to be fully involved in helping regenerate West Wythenshawe and its communities too.
