Building a stronger community

Building company partners are about more than bricks and mortar

We've teamed up with several building companies to improve every Parkway Green home to good modern standards.

But as well as fitting new windows, doors, bathrooms and kitchens; our partner-companies are involved in lots of other initiatives to help improve the quality of local life and build a healthier Parkway Green community.

Here’s a couple of recent examples . . .

Building a future

In November 2007 our partner-company Connaughts took part in a careers day at St.Paul’s Catholic High School, Newall Green.

More than 60 fourteen- and fifteen-year olds had a go at challenging activities and hands-on taster sessions in tiling, joinery, pricing-exercises and kitchen design.

Connaughts customer service manager, Kate Coward said: "The event was a great success; we got some very positive feedback from the children".

It was a great way to show local youngsters – girls as well as boys – that the building industry offers jobs where you can use your head, and not just your hands.

Fundraising

The building companies’ ‘liaison officers' help things go smoothly during home improvement work. Tell them about any problems - they'll get things sorted out quickly. You may already have seen Connaughts liaison officers Karen Ottley, Claire Roberts or Donna Schuller if work has been done on your home.

The three of them recently showed how they’re playing a role in the wider community too – by organising a bonfire night fundraiser that raised £150 for the Wythenshawe hospital burns unit. Connaughts themselves made a similar contribution.
