Following this you will be contacted to arrange a 1-1 employment advice and guidance session to develop a personalised pathway to work or training which is tailored to your needs. Real Opportunities is the one stop shop for all your employment support needs. Next Step

Next Step is the advice and guidance service we are currently using as part of the Real Opportunities. They provide free 1-1 advice and guidance about jobs, training and education. Get Into Housing - the Talent Pool

The Get Into Housing initiative helps Wythenshawe residents access jobs with Parkway Green and other local employers. We have created a Talent Pool which local people can join and get exclusive earlyaccess to employment, training and volunteering opportunities. To become part of the Talent Pool you must be unemployed, live in Wythenshawe and have undergone pre-employment advice or trainingthrough Real Opportunities.

Free Travel Advice

The travel for change team aim to make travel simple. They can:

  • Advise you on how to plan your journey for work or leisure
  • Give you advice on which type of ticket to buy
  • Give you help with using timetables
  • Provide free bus tickets to help you get to an interview or when you start a new job
  • Give you advice on cycle routes and free urban cycle skills training

Drop-in sessions are every other Thursday at Parkway Green's offices

Work Experience

Parkway Green offers work experience placements to young people and adults from Wythenshawe throughout the year, in office-based roles. In the last year we have hosted over 40 placements for local people. The placements give you a real taste of working in housing, in a friendly and supportive environment. The placements are very popular and subject to availability. If you are interested in doing some work experience with Parkway Green contact us to check availability.

Apprenticeships

The Trust offers Apprenticeships in construction and office-based positions. These are usually advertised once per year and we use a number of ways to help Wythenshawe people access these opportunities, including our links with local schools and colleges, and our Get Into Housing Talent Pool.

The Airport Group

Parkway Green is a member of the Airport Group, a collection of 14 housing trusts across the North of England who are committed to working together and sharing best practice on a number of key issues. Click on the link below for more information.

Business Working With Wythenshawe (BW3)

Parkway Green is a member of the Business Working With Wythenshawe group, which is chaired by Manchester Airport. BW3 is group of local large businesses who are committed to helping local people develop confidence and skills to access training and employment opportunities. Together we run four 'Job Search Skills' events for Wythenshawe secondary schools per academic year, and up to four events with Wythenshawe primary schools called 'Numbers at Work'. We also run at least four Get Hired events for adults every year Together, these initiatives have helped over 1000 people with employment-related support in the last 12 months.
