Environmental improvements
We consulted customers in 2009 about what environmental improvements they would like to see around their neighbourhoods. This environmental investment forms part of our transfer promises.
Following extensive consultation, your priorities were to improve front garden boundaries and car parking. We regularly consulted with tenant steering groups during the design process, to make sure our design ideas are what you want to see. Work is well underway with most of the phases and all of the designs completed. Please contact the Environmental Team on 0161 946 6389 to discuss further if required.
We are spending £9 million providing 2,168 front boundary treatments and 1,177 car parking spaces to the priority areas identified during the consultation process.
Improving front garden boundaries will help your neighbourhood to look its best. We plan to replace front boundaries within priority areas, but are retaining healthy hedges where possible so that the area still looks green, in keeping with the garden city principles and to accommodate ground drainage and secure the habitat for wildlife.
If you live in one of the priority areas, we are aiming to provide you with a driveway if there is enough space in your garden. This will help to reduce on street parking, improve security for your vehicles and help to provide safer routes to school for local children.
All designs/works have to comply with MCC Planning and Highways criteria, which mean that sometimes we are unable to carry out works to some properties.
Ms G, from Aldfield Road has had improvement works done to her home, she said: "Thank you for all your hard work, my walls and gardens are beautiful and it’s made the area look really nice! I would also like to thank the contractors as they were very helpful and efficient. When I had a problem they sorted it out, I think Parkway Green are doing a fantastic job for the area."
To date the percentage of customers satisfied with the environmental work is 87.23%
