Regular recycling

Changes to your collections

Recycling will be getting even better over the next weeks, when Manchester City Council begins weekly bin collections.

Changes for 2009

If you have blue and brown bins, these will be collected on alternate weeks: blue bin one week, brown bin the next. If you have a kerbit box, the council will soon be in touch to see if you want to replace it with a set of blue and brown bins or a communal collection. If your block of flats doesn’t have a recycling service, it will do by the end of this year.

What goes where
  • Use your blue bin for: paper, cardboard, cartons (such as tetra-pak), envelopes, magazines, phone directories, catalogues and greetings cards
  • Use your brown bin for: glass, cans and tins, aerosols, aluminium foil and plastic bottles (lids off please!)

If you have any questions about the recycling collections (such as collection days) or you don’t have any bins, please call Environment On Call 0161 954 9000. You can also contact them through their website.
