Leaseholders

Can I buy my home?

As a secure tenant, under the Right to Buy scheme you can apply to buy your home at a price lower than the market value as long as the property is your principal home.

You must also meet the following criteria:

  1. You are a secure tenant or became an assured tenant at the time of transfer from Manchester City Council to Parkway Green Housing Trust
  2. Your secure tenancy was in existence before 18 January 2005
  3. Spent at least 2 years as a public sector tenant before 18 January 2005
  4. If your tenancy started after 18 Jan 2005 you have to wait 5 years before you apply

There are circumstances when you cannot buy your home:

  1. If a court makes a possession order to evict you
  2. If you are un-discharged bankrupt or have a bankruptcy order pending
  3. If you have outstanding creditor arrangements which you still owe money against
  4. If you are involved in any neighbour nuisance case
  5. If you owe more than four weeks rent
  6. If you live in sheltered housing or your property is due to be demolished
  7. If you are living in temporary accommodation

If you decide to buy your flat you will become a leaseholder and pay a service charge.
